  • Rail River Folk School Bemidji, MN (map)

Bemidji will host the world premiere of a new musical titled “Water from Snow.” Written by local playwright Janet Preus, this contemporary musical features area performers and is set in rural Minnesota.

The musical tells the story of a single mother struggling to come to terms with her past, reconnect with old friends, and finally find peace in her soul. The serious yet humorous musical will open on April 5 at 7 p.m. at Bemidji’s Rail River Folk School. There will be consecutive 7 p.m. performances on April 11 and 12, as well as matinees at 3 p.m. on April 6 and 13.

All the music in “Water from Snow” was composed by Janet Preus, Robert Elhai, and Fred Steele.

The show features a diverse cast of characters drawn from Preus’ lifetime in rural Minnesota and incorporates a blend of music from country and blues, pop, and R&B.
