The Prairie Renaissance Cultural Alliance (PRCA) in Morris, Minn., is looking for artists to compete in the Fall Into Art Festival art competition — with cash prizes — on Sept. 6, 2025 at East Side Park in Morris.
The theme for the art competition is “Nature in 3-D.” We are looking for original three-dimensional artworks that include nature motifs. These could be sculptures in any medium; 3-D artworks in wood, metal, ceramic, fiber, found materials,
glass, mosaic, concrete, mixed media; furniture; garden or yard art; planters, bird baths, rain barrel art, etc. Be creative and push the boundaries of three-dimensional art! All sizes accepted.
Artworks should have a minimum value of $100. All contest entries will be eligible for cash prizes and a free artist booth.
The Fall Into Art Festival is a fundraiser to benefit the PRCA, a local, volunteer arts organization. Contest entries will be considered donations to the PRCA and will be auctioned off in a live auction following the contest.
How to participate in the Fall Into Art Festival Art Contest
1. Create a 3-D artwork with a nature motif to enter into the contest. All works of art entered in the contest are eligible for $600 in cash prizes, to be awarded by audience voting on the day of the festival. People’s choice awards will be given for 1st ($300), 2nd ($200), and 3rd place ($100.00). All works of art entered in the contest will be considered donations to the PRCA, and will be auctioned off in a live auction following the contest. As part of the auction, artists will have a chance to speak about their art. Auction proceeds will benefit the PRCA.
2. Every artist who donates an artwork to the art contest also gets a FREE vendor space to display and/or sell their artwork during the festival.
3. Contest art must be original, have a nature motif, and be viewable in three dimensions (contest does not include traditional photography or paintings). 3-D works may be any size and medium.

2024 MCKNIGHT FIBER ARTIST FELLOWSHIP EXHIBITION Ceremony Blankets by Rick Kagigebi
2024 MCKNIGHT FIBER ARTIST FELLOWSHIP EXHIBITION
Ceremony Blankets • Rick Kagigebi
February 21 – August 21, 2025
Gallery hours Tuesday-Thursday 11am-4pm
Gizhiigin Arts Incubator
Mahnomen MN
Plan to visit this special exhibition if you’re heading north this summer. Go, just go, and see the phenomenal blankets in Rick’s first exhibition on the White Earth Reservation.
Facilitating 2024 McKnight Fellow Rick Kagigebi’s solo exhibition at Gizhiigin Arts Incubator has been a highlight of my past decade at Textile Center. In my role as director for the McKnight Fellowships for Fiber Artists, getting to know Rick and his work has been an absolute joy and privilege. Throughout his fellowship year, I looked forward to showing his blankets at Textile Center – to honor his work, share it widely, and be a tiny part of his legacy as a maker.
Rick, a blanket maker (Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe) is a blanket-maker whose appliquéd mural blankets, created as ceremonial gifts, are shaped by every aspect — from the sketch to the fabric selections, sewing, and tying — to hold storytelling significance.

Auditions: Girls Night Out | Warroad Summer Theatre
Tuesday, July 8, 2025
6:00 PM 8:00 PM
Auditions for a comedy “whodunnit” coming to RiverPlace this fall!
Four women, on their way to an evening at the theater, stop for dinner at the establishment owned by the ex-husband of one of them. Between the salad and entree, he ends up dead. Each has a reason to wish him dead; perhaps one did more than wish. Perhaps it was one of the other guests. Only unwinding the plot will tell which one is the murderer.

Batik with Diane
Cost: $125 Class Size: 16. To Register: visit www.bagleyarts.org
Participants should bring their own watercolors. All other supplies will be provided. Bring your own lunch and beverages. Coffee is provided.
Batik is a traditional Indonesian cloth that originated from the island of Java in the late 1800’s and is still used today throughout Indonesia. It is said the word batik comes from the words Banyak Titik- meaning many dots.
Watercolor Batik is done on rice paper. We will use regular paraffin wax melted in a very small crock pot. There is an inking of the drawing that is done with a black permanent marker. Regular watercolors are used and each step of the way waxed. Starting with whites, then yellows, etc; working from light to dark. It is a fun process! When finished with the waxing process, we iron out the wax using an iron and ironing board. The finished product is almost like stained glass when held up to a light.

Bringing a Scene to Life. Plein Aire Workshop with Scott Lloyd Anderson
Plein air’s not that scary! Yes, it’s challenging, but there are strategies to help get that sense of light. This workshop will focus on the craft of painting outside. This workshop is open to acrylic and watercolor painters as well. Like hunting or fishing, it takes practice. There are simple, time-honored approaches to simplify a scene and get a sense of the day. Sure you can find these on Youtube, but this workshop will work with you individually, the class will give you an appreciation and level of experience. Most important, the class will give you and appreciation of how plein air is really about learning how to see- seeing space, seeing subtle value relationships, and seeing colors.
Scott’s previous career as a magazine art director greatly informs his art. For the past 23 years, he has participated in many plein air events and exhibitions across the country, winning a few along the way. His art has been featured in national magazines like Southwest Art, Plein Art, American Art Collector, and Art Afficionado. “I love the honesty of painting outdoors from nature.” Scott says. “A plein air painting is like a musical performance recorded live.” This past winter, he exhibited his paintings of snowmen, or snowfolk as he calls them, at Zeller Studio in Hopkins, MN. This summer he’ll teach a plein air workshop at The Atelier in Minneapolis. Presently, he teaches oil painting at the Edina Art Center and Minnetonka Center for the Arts, as well as his own independent workshops.

Thursday, October 2, 2025

A comedy “whodunnit” coming to RiverPlace this fall!
Girls' Night Out will have three different endings, so come more than once for a new experience each time!

Girls’ Night Out | Dinner Theater with Warroad Summer Theatre
A comedy “whodunnit” coming to RiverPlace this fall!

Mapping Lives and Discovering Connections
How are we voices for wildness? How does the way we are seen in the places we call home affect how we write about place? Can we re-see through defamiliarization? How do the tools of the craft of poetry teach us how to connect with wildness—both ours and that which is outside of us?
In this writing class, we will map our lives and explore the connections we can build with poetry—nudging words to find their place in syntax, marrying disparates with metaphor, stringing images and thoughts in patterns of ideation and emotion, connecting others to our words—to illuminate connections with the non-human world.
Come prepared to generate ideas and share work written during our time together. Our goals will be finding connections, furthering exploration, spurring generation, and creating the makings of a draft of a new poem.
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board and the Region 2 Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund.
