Drawing with Metal: Metalpoint Workshop

  • Watermark Art Center Bemidji, MN (map)

Saturday, March 1, adults ages 16 and up are invited to learn the art of metalpoint with Watermark Art Center exhibiting artist Aaron Squadroni. Participants will work with various metals to create subtle and enigmatic drawings. Included will be a brief look at the history of metalpoint drawing.

A metalpont drawing is created by pulling a metal rod or wire, utilized as a drawing tool, across a surface that is often prepared with gesso or primer.

Once used by scribes and craftsmen in ancient times and artists during the Renaissance, metalpoint is gaining renewed appreciation in the contemporary art world.
