Cord, Thread and Fiber Jewelry

As a studio artist, Marion Hunziker-Larsen has worked with thread all of her life producing a large collection of limited edition and one of a kind pieces since the late 70’s. She uses various fiber techniques including, but no limited to micro macrame, Cavandoli knotting, Kumihimo braiding, Chinese Knotting and cordmaking with gemstones beads and cabochons.

In 2006, she opened an online supply store. Started on a whim with nylon thread for her students, it grew, literally overnight. As a result of working closely with suppliers, she is working as a color consultant for C-Lon allowing her to be part of the process of creating colors she always dreamt of working with. She has since become a supplier to many professional artists and designers throughout the world.

This gives Marion a unique perspective to talk about cord & thread, and fiber jewelry. Her presentation will address questions you may have about thread, its construction, and the best ones to use for jewelry with conservation in mind. Adhesives will also be discussed. Then in addition to presenting her own work, Marion will also present a wide range of work done with thread & cord by other artists. Many of the techniques she will present such as Micro Macrame, Kumihimo,Bead Crochet are currently enjoying a renewal of interest.
