Train to Become an Artist in School Residency!

The Region 2 Arts Council has scheduled an Artist in School Residency Training for professional artists. Regional artists of all disciplines who wish to work as an Artist in Residence at area schools are strongly encouraged to attend.

Minnneapolis theatre artist Linda Bruning will conduct the workshop. Bruning has been working as an artist in residence for over 15 years in Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota.

Topics to be discussed include: What a residency is and how it works, what kinds of residencies work best for various arts, how artists can best align their art across the school curriculum, working with classroom teachers, planning, lesson plans, and reflection. Attendees will leave the seminar equipped with a wealth of ideas and at least one full lesson plan for their future artist in residency experience.

The workshop will take place Saturday, April 10 from 9a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Kitchigami Library in Bemidji. The cost is $25 and the deadline for signing up is April 5.

Please mail or bring a check payable to R2AC to the Region 2 offices at 426 Bemidji Ave N, in Bemidji.
