Open to individual Native American artists in all arts disciplines. This grant offers funding for costs associated with the exhibition, performance, or production of a creative work; purchase of materials or equipment necessary for a creative work; educational opportunities; mentorships; and proposals for career-enhancing projects or opportunities. Open to Native American artists residing in Becker, Beltrami, Cass, Clearwater, Hubbard, Itasca, Lake of the Woods, Mahnomen, and Roseau Counties. Artists can apply for grants up to $1,000.

Region 2 Arts Council Offers FREE Grant Writing Workshops for Native American Artists

Native American Artists interested in applying for an Anishinaabe Arts Initiative (AAI) Grant are invited to a FREE Region 2 Arts Council (R2AC) grant writing workshop to prepare for the AAI grant application process.

Participants will learn about eligible grant requests, writing grant proposals and preparing artist statements, resumes, and work samples.

The deadline for the Anishinaabe Arts Initiative Grant is Oct. 3, 2012.  Grant application packets will be on hand at the workshop and are available for download.

Arts and Cultural Heritage Grant DEADLINE this THURSDAY!

Pick up your ACH Grant Application at the Region 2 Arts Council office at 426 Bemidji Ave or download it here.

Applications must be turned in before 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 16 (not a minute later!).  Need to mail it to our Region 2 Arts Council office?  Grants must be postmarked by August 16, 2012.

Arts and Cultural Heritage Grants
Open to Region 2 artists in all art disciplines, any Region 2 non-profit organization, school (including community education offices), and units of government. These grants support three key areas: Arts Activities and Arts Access, Arts Education, and Arts and Cultural Heritage. Individual artists can apply for grants up to $3,000 and organizations can apply for grants up to $6,000.

Projects funded through R2AC’s grants programs should have primary impact on and accessibility to Minnesota residents of Beltrami, Clearwater, Hubbard, Lake of the Woods, and Mahnomen Counties.

With a new round of grant deadlines approaching, Region 2 Arts Council (R2AC) will offer free grant writing workshops for organizations, schools, and units of government and individuals within the five counties of Region 2.

Workshops for organizations will cover  Arts and Cultural Heritage Grants (Aug 16 deadline) and Arts Project Grants (Sept 12 deadline). Special attention will be given to Outcome-Based Evaluations for Arts and Cultural Heritage grants.

Workshops for individual artists will cover Arts and Cultural Heritage Grants (Aug 16 deadline), R2AC/McKnight Career Development Fellowships (Sept 12 deadline), Individual Artist Grants (Oct 4 deadline), and Anishinaabe Arts Initiative Grants (Oct 3 deadline).

Eleven Student Artists from Region 2 Receive Artist Mentor Grant Awards

The Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment, passed by Minnesota voters on November 4, 2008, has made it possible for the Region 2 Arts Council to award $6,599 in Artist Mentor Grants to young artists in our region for the third year in a row.  This spring, eleven Region 2 Arts Council Artist Mentor grants were awarded to eleven 9th -12th grade student artists to mentor with a professional artist or attend a workshop in their arts discipline.  

Kailey Babcock, Trek North student from Bemidji, was awarded $600 to mentor with visual artist Malisa VanMaasdam, also of Bemidji, to refine her drawing skills, expand her subject matter, and broaden her skills in painting.

Kylie Bamberger, Blackduck High School student, was awarded $600 to mentor with professional photographer Joe Rossi, also of Blackduck.   

Brea Blankenfeld, Trek North student of Bemidji, was awarded $600 to mentor with visual artist Nicholas Jackson, also of Bemidji, to improve her skills in watercolor.

Gwenfrewi Burger, Trek North student of Bemidji, was awarded $600 to mentor with Karen Bradley, also of Bemidji, to improve her technique, expand her range of expressivity, and build her repertoire in voice.

Justice Deeter, Trek North student of Bemidji, was awarded $600 to mentor with visual artist Nina Lubarski, also of Bemidji, to explore new drawing techniques, learn to show positive and negative space, and experiment with a variety of surfaces and materials.

Rebecca Eckdahl, Trek North student from Blackduck, was awarded $600 to mentor with visual artist Terry Honstead of Bemidji, to improve her technical skills and increase her ability to express emotion in her drawing and painting.

Shyanne Kaml, Bemidji High School student, was awarded $600 to mentor with Pat Surface of Ely, MN increase her audience reach and expand her range in songwriting.

Rebekah Kjolhaug, Clearbrook/Gonvick HS student from Clearbrook, was awarded $600 to mentor with visual artist Pamela Edevold of Bagley, to explore chalk pastels, colored pencil, and learn to express light and shadow.

Kailee Martens, Bemidji High School student, was awarded $599 to attend 2 workshops for young writers at the Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis, MN.

Lynn S. Masino, Blackduck High School senior, was awarded $600 to mentor with professional photographer Joe Rossi, also of Blackduck, in photography.

Annikka Roy, Trek North student of Solway, was awarded $600 to mentor with visual artist Maureen O’Brien, also of Solway, to expand her range in the use of tools, surfaces, and media in her artwork.

Artist Mentor Grant Program Deadline: April 11!

Attention young student artists of all kinds (and parents, friends, and teachers of young student artists)!

The Region 2 Arts Council Artist Mentor Grant Program is an amazing opportunity for 8-12 grade student artists in the five counties of Region 2 to receive funding to work with an adult artist mentor. And the April 11 deadline is fast approaching!

Grants up to $600 cover 20 contact hours with a professional artist with whom you haven’t worked before, but are eager to mentor with.  Funds can also be applied to a camp, workshop, or class in your arts discipline.

Community Arts Support Grant Deadline: February 15, 2012

Did you know that Community Arts Support Grants are open to any arts organization in Region 2?  Read on!

These grants are two-year awards that help provide some measure of funding stability for arts organizations so that their energy can be better focused on increasing the quality and availability of the arts to their communities. Organizations can qualify to apply for up to $6,000 in funds based on their annual expenses.

If your arts organization misses this application deadline, you will need to wait two years before you have the opportunity to apply again. Applications are available at the Region 2 Arts Council Office, 426 Bemidji Avenue, Bemidji, MN  56601 and are also available for download here.

Individual Artist Grant Deadline February 7th! Are You Ready?

All submissions for Region 2 Arts Council Individual Artist Grants are due in the Region 2 Arts Council office by 5 p.m. on February 7, 2012 or postmarked and in the mail by that same date. 

Individual Artists Grants support individual artists who reside in Hubbard, Beltrami, Lake of the Woods, Clearwater, and Mahnomen counties in the creation and promotion of their art.  Applicants may apply for funds up to $1000.

On February 21, Region 2 Arts Council is hosting a panel discussion to inform interested 8-12 graders, their parents, teachers, and local artists about the Artist Mentor grant program. Artist mentors and student grant recipients will speak candidly about the working together and the application process.  There will be time for questions.
