Region 2 Arts Council awarded arts organizations, schools, and non-profit organizations a total of $202,377.00 in State and Legacy funds.  

The funding totals by county are

  • Beltrami County: $99,112
  • Clearwater County: $24,259
  • Hubbard County: $49,646
  • Lake of the Woods County: $23,960
  • Mahnomen County: $5,400

Region 2 Arts Council awarded Individual Artists a total of $48,805.00 in McKnight, Legacy, and State funds. The funding totals by grant program are

  • Individual Artist Grants: $18,132
  • Artist Career Development Fellowships: $12,000
  • Anishinaabe Arts Initiative Grants: $9,313
  • Artist Mentor Grants: $4,800
  • Arts and Cultural Heritage Grants for Individuals: $3,000
  • Quick Grants for Artists: $1,560

These awards made possible by

  • the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Region 2 Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage fund

Arts Project Grant Funding Available for Region 2 Arts Programming!

Arts Project Grant Maximum Request: $2,500
DEADLINE OCTOBER 3, 2014

For non-profit organizations*, schools, universities, community education programs, or units of local government located in Minnesota’s Beltrami, Hubbard, Lake of the Woods, Mahnomen, and Clearwater counties.

ELIGIBLE PROJECTS INCLUDE

  • Creation or production of an arts project or event such as an arts workshop, play, exhibit, film, performance, collaborative work with participation and registration open to the public.
  • Artist-in-Residence projects using local or non-local artists for schools or community organizations, aspects of which will be open to the public
  • Touring arts performances or exhibitions brought to our five-county region
  • Developmental assistance for your arts organization, such as help with long-range planning or board development.
  • Public Art

FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES FOR OPTIMAL GRANT WRITING ASSISTANCE 

  • Applications submitted two weeks prior to the deadline date or earlier will be reviewed by R2AC staff for accuracy, completeness, and eligibility.
  • Applications submitted less than two weeks prior to the deadline date are reviewed only as staff time allows.
  • R2AC staff will not review grants for completion after the deadline date. Incomplete grants will be deemed ineligible.

Arts Project Grant Deadline: March 12, 2014

The Region 2 Arts Council Arts Project Grant Deadline is March 12, 2014.  We welcome non-profit organizations, schools, college/university departments, community education offices, townships, and city or county governments located in Region 2 to apply for this grant.

Arts Project Grants offer funding for a variety of arts projects including 

  • artist residencies for schools and other organizations
  • costs related to performances
  • exhibitions
  • arts festivals
  • public art
  • arts awareness projects
  • literary magazines or anthologies
  • bringing touring exhibitions or performances to the area
  • hiring artists to give presentations or workshops

Projects funded through this grant program should have primary impact on, and accessibility to, residents of Beltrami, Clearwater, Hubbard, Lake of the Woods, and Mahnomen Counties.   Requests can be made for up to $2,500.

Arts Project and Fellowship Grant Apps DUE Wednesday Sept. 11

Thinking about writing a grant for the upcoming round? Here are some things you might want to know!

Arts Project Grants

  • New This Year:  Grants for up to $2,500.00 are available for arts programming
  • There is a 20% cash match required
  • R2AC has $12,000 in funds available for this round
  • Nonprofits, public entities (schools, higher learning institutions, community ed, government offices), arts organizations are eligible
  • Activity must be located in the five counties of Region 2
  • Applicant organizations, etc. must be located in the five counties of Region 2

R2AC/McKnight Career Development Fellowship

  • Eligible Applicants can demonstrate a history of sustained accomplishment in their chosen artistic field over a period of at least five years
  • Eligible Applicants must reside in the five-county area of Region 2 for at least one full year prior to the deadline date of the application
  • Two Fellowships of $6000 a piece are available
  • The Fellowship should be completed within 18 months of notification of the Board

R2AC/McKnight Career Development Fellowships
Two $6000 Fellowships Awarded Annually
Application Deadline: September 11, 2013

Open to established artists in all disciplines who show a commitment to their career. This 18-month fellowship provides the opportunity for career development experiences that will add depth and advancement to any artistic career.  Eligible applicants must reside in Beltrami, Hubbard, Lake of the Woods, Mahnomen, or Clearwater county of Minnesota.

Applications are available at the Region 2 Arts Council Office, 426 Bemidji Avenue, Bemidji, MN  56601 or on our website. If you have applied in the past, please make sure you download a current application form. The R2AC/ Career Development Fellowship is funded by the McKnight Foundation.

  • Tuesday, July 23, 2013 from  5:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the Coldwell Banker Community Room, 101 Main Ave. South in Park Rapids, MN.
  • Wednesday, July 24, 2013 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Mahnomen Museum in the new building between the museum and the Red Apple Cafe on Main Street in Mahnomen, MN.

All Region 2 Arts Council grant requests are for arts-related projects, materials and supplies. High artistic quality is expected of all funded projects.

Individual artists, educational institutions, government offices, and non-profit organizations in Hubbard, Beltrami, Lake of the Woods, Mahnomen, and Clearwater Counties are eligible to apply for Region 2 Arts Council grants.

Grants and Deadlines:

Workshops for organizations, schools, and units of government will cover the Arts and Cultural Heritage grant (deadline Aug 14, 2013) and Arts Project Grant (deadline Sept 11, 2013).

Workshops for individuals will be tailored to the individuals present including covering the Arts and Cultural Heritage Grant (deadline Aug 14, 2013), R2AC/McKnight Career Development Fellowships (deadline Sept 11, 2013), Individual Artist Grants (deadline Oct 3, 2013), and Anishinaabe Arts Initiative Grants (deadline Oct 1,2013).

Arts and Cultural Heritage Grant Writing Workshop for Individuals and Organizations Offered in Bemidji

image001Region 2 Arts Council will offer a FREE grant writing workshop from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday July 10, 2013 in our office in the lower level of the Historic Carnegie Library Building at 426 Bemidji Avenue N., in Bemidji. Please register in advance.

A new Region 2 Arts Council granting cycle begins with the August 14, 2013 deadline for the Arts and Cultural Heritage grant. Individual Artists, Schools, Community Ed Programs, Government Offices, Cultural Groups and Non-Profit Organizations in Beltrami, Hubbard, Lake of the Woods, Mahnomen, and Clearwater County are eligible to apply for this grant.  Individuals may request up to $3,000; Organizations may request up to $6,000. All projects funded through Arts and Cultural Heritage Grants must show artistic excellence and have a clear community component.

Also at this workshop, organizations, schools, and units of government will have the opportunity to learn more about our Arts Project Grant (deadline September 11, 2013) New this year: Arts Project Grant requests up to $2,500 will be considered (do I hear a cheer? :)).
