Anishinaabe Arts Initiative (AAI) Grant

Maximum Grant Award: $1,000

Application Deadline: November 1, 2019

Earliest Project Start Date: December 13, 2019

The Anishinaabe Arts Initiative (AAI) Grant for individual artists is now available online. This is the only grant that may be submitted in paper form.

Open to traditional and contemporary Native American Artists in all arts disciplines. This grant offers funding for costs associated with the exhibition, performance, or production of a creative work; purchase of materials or equipment necessary for a creative work; educational opportunities; mentorships; and proposals for career-enhancing projects or opportunities. Both contemporary and traditional arts, such as beading and regalia making, are considered for funding.

Looking for ideas to apply for an Arts Learning Grant?

Arts Learning Grant applications are due October 15, just around the corner! If you are looking for inspiration you might consider taking a look at our awarded grants list. Last year we awarded funding for the following arts-learning projects:

Clear Waters Life Center offered 37 weeks of quality art classes for youth and older adults.

Bemidji Community Theater partnered with TrekNorth Jr. and Senior High School and Neilson Place to record the memories of residents at Neilson Place culminating in a collective performance involving music, song, and dance.

Northern Light Opera Company facilitated a three-week Theater Workshop/Camp, NLOKids, to children from the Native American Community of Pine Point MN and children from the Park Rapids community.

Bemidji Community Theater extended a theater internship program allowing interns to work with mentors in theater related areas on 5 different projects during their theater season.

Bemidji State University Music Department’s Bemidji Concert Series brought the Trombones of St. Louis and Violetta Duo to perform in Bemidji.

The Arts Learning Grant is now open and ready for applications! Arts Learning Grants support schools and other community organizations that provide arts education activities. Apply online using our grant portal. You will need to login and if you have applied for before you might want to read about our changes from last year’s grants. If you haven’t used our system before, have an email address ready, be prepared to choose a password, and have the EIN of your school or organization handy. You have one month to complete your application. Applications for the Arts Learning Grant are due Tuesday October 15th at 11:45 pm. Remember we are here to help – we can talk through your ideas, read grant applications and offer suggestions, answer questions, help fix technical glitches, or help you through any accessibility issues you may have. The first two grants of our fiscal year 2020 grant cycle have arrived! The Arts Access Grant and the R2AC Artist Fellowship are now open and ready for applications.
