On November 19, 2018, the Region 2 Arts Council Board of Directors granted $22,903 in Arts and Cultural Heritage funds to arts organizations, groups with a fiscal sponsor, schools and non-profit institutions and organizations. These grants support high-quality arts education that develops knowledge, skills, and understanding of the arts for the benefit of Minnesotans of all ages across our five-county region.
The grant recipients included:
Clear Waters Life Center received $6,000 to provide 29 weeks of quality art classes for youth-older adults Jan-Aug 2019, 20 weeks of Monday classes offered in the afternoon and evening for adult learners and 9 weeks of youth after school classes on Wednesdays.
Bemidji Community Theater received $4,701 to collaborate with TrekNorth Jr. and Senior High School and Neilson Place to record the memories of residents at Neilson Place culminating in a collective performance involving music, song, and dance.
Northern Light Opera Company received $4,945 to offer a three-week Theater Workshop/Camp, NLOKids, to children from the Native American Community of Pine Point MN and children from the Park Rapids community.
Bemidji Community Theater received $5,607 to continue a theater internship program allowing interns to work with mentors in theater related areas on 5 upcoming projects for the 2019-2020 season.
Bemidji State University Music Department’s Bemidji Concert Series received $1,650 to bring the Trombones of St. Louis and Violetta Duo to perform in Bemidji.
Region 2 Arts Council Arts Learning Grants are made possible by the voters of Minnesota thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
