Drawing From the Figure Workshop with Mary Therese Peterson
Emerging and professional artists will have the opportunity to work with a live model in this drawing workshop. Experienced figure drawing artist Mary Therese Peterson will teach classical drawing techniques while incorporating new approaches to seeing and working with a model. Artists should expect to strengthen their mind, eye, and hand coordination while developing their drawing skill. A drawing portfolio documenting skill level and previous drawing experience is required for participation is this workshop.
WHEN: Saturday March 19th from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

“Sunflower Welcome” Tole Painting Class with Melody Bowles
Come join accomplished tole painting instructor Melody Bowles for three 2-hour tole painting classes featuring sunflowers. Bowles has been Tole painting for 30 years and has taught numerous classes in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Minnesota.
Students should have some experience tole painting, as well as provide their own painting surface including canvas, board, tray, slate, brushes, oils and acrylics if desired. The painting will be taught in oils, and everyone will learn how to fit and copy the pattern to their individual painting surface.
WHEN: Tuesday March 22nd, 29th, and April 5th from 3-5 p.m.

Pottery – Hand Building: Explore Form and Surface to Find Your Voice Workshop with Peter Young
Blank Canvas Gallery and Education Center in Park Rapids is offering an introductory pottery workshop with artist Peter Young.
Participants will be introduced to a brief history of pottery and learn vocabulary and basic techniques to construct both a pinch pot and a coil pot using various glazes and glazing techniques. Materials needed will be a mold/bowl, rolling pin, texturizing tool, newspaper, hair dryer, towel, and a one gallon bucket.
WHEN: Saturday and Sunday March 26 & 27, and April 17th from 10 – 2 p.m.

“Reflections on Little Mantrap” Tole Painting Class by Melody Bowles
This single 3 hour session with experienced tole-painting instructor Melody Bowles will focus on capturing a scenic lake view on canvas. Students should have some experience in Tole or method painting. The students will provide their own canvas, brushes and tubes of acrylic paint. Upon registration the instructor will provide students with a list of the brushes, paints and other needed items.

Build A Rustic End-table Workshop with Duane Shoup
Learn from Master Furniture Craftsman Duane Shoup how to build a rustic end-table using fine local hard woods. After two Saturday sessions, you will come away with a beautiful end-table that you have built yourself.
WHEN: Saturday April 16th and April 23rd, from12-5 p.m.
WHERE: Mr. Shoup’s woodworking studio, 29175 243rd Ave, Shevlin, MN.
COST: $50.00 per person, which covers all materials, including local hardwoods and use of his studio and tools.
