Region 2 Arts Council Sponsors Team Totem Workshop

Paul Albright's Jingle Dress Totem

The Region 2 Arts Council is sponsoring a carving workshop, “Team Totem,” presented by Paul Albright. Attendees will learn the traditional totem pole process and assist in carving a totem pole.  The 2-day workshop will take place October 15 and 16 from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. each day at 28348 230th Street in Akely, MN.

Paul Albright is a well-known sculptor and woodworker He has been a full time artist for twenty years. Paul’s wood sculptures have ranged from hand carved smaller detailed pieces to large power tooled works. He resides and works in a wooded country setting just west of Akeley, MN. Totem building is something special in the field of sculpture. In the class offered, Paul will assist you in designing and making your own section of a totem. Once finished, each piece will be re-assembled to form the totem. No previous experience is necessary and the tools will be provided (or bring your own).

This workshop is limited to 14 people.  Fee for attending is $50.00.  To register, send a check in the amount of $50.00 made payable to the Region 2 Arts Council to 426 Bemidji Avenue, Bemidji, MN  56601.  Registration deadline is October 8, 2010.
