We invite you to propose workshop ideas to Region 2 Arts Council for direct funding. The focus of the workshop must be on adult learning and be open to the public. There is no financial risk to the workshop planner, and proposals are considered on an ongoing basis.
This offer is open to any group that wants to bring in an artist to do a workshop and to regional artists who wish to present a workshop themselves. Non-profit organizations, artists, community groups, schools, and units of government may apply. Applicants are restricted to the Region 2 counties which include Beltrami, Clearwater, Hubbard, Lake of the Woods, and Mahnomen.

How are expenses paid and who pays the artist presenter?
Region 2 pays the presenter’s fee and reimburses other expenses after the Final Report is submitted.
What are acceptable formats for the presenter’s work samples?
- Visual art – a link to photos of your work on your website or 5-10 jpgs on a mac compatible CD or DVD.
- Theater, film, dance or performance art - a link to a movie on your website or on YouTube, or a standard DVD that plays automatically when opened.
- Musicians – a link to mp3 music samples on your website or a performance on YouTube or 2-5 mp3 files on CD.
- Writers – a link to writing samples on your website or a 1-3 page pdf writing sample on a CD or DVD.
Where can I hold the workshop?
Workshops have been held in conference rooms in libraries, hotels, and businesses. Churches often have space, or you can hold it in the artist’s studio. You can use any location that has the suitable space and requirements for the workshop.
How many days can a workshop be held?
The average workshop is one to three days but can be as many days as needed.
How is registration handled?
Checks are mailed to R2AC for registration. The workshop coordinator or presenter will provide a sign-in sheet the day of the workshop.
What determines the cancelation of a workshop?
If less than the minimum number of participants register by the registration deadline date, then the workshop will be canceled.
How is publicity handled?
R2AC will send out news releases to all media in the five-county region and will also include a notice in the Northern Arts News if the lead time is sufficient. The workshop coordinator or presenter will contact people they think may be interested in attending. The coordinator may distribute posters to business locations, and brochures are also an option.
How do I submit my Final Report?
You will need to submit a final report after your workshop to get paid. Enclosed with the final report should be a class list or sign-in sheet, student evaluations, and any receipts for expenses incurred.
