R2AC Arts Project Grants may be used for the following:

  • Putting together an exhibit, a performance or a workshop (see also No-risk Workshops)
  • Sponsoring a “prepackaged” arts performance or exhibit
  • Hosting an artist-in-residence at a school
  • Planning or consulting assistance to an arts organization

These grants are only available to 501(c)3 non-profit organizations, community groups, schools, and units of government that are in Region 2. The five-county Region 2 includes Beltrami, Clearwater, Hubbard, Lake of the Woods, and Mahnomen Counties.

Any organization, club, school, unit of government, or community group may apply. If your organization doesn’t have a 501(c)3 status, it is easy to apply through a fiscal sponsor.

What is a Fiscal Sponsor?
A fiscal sponsor is any non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization, school, or unit of government that agrees to handle funds granted to another group or organization. The fiscal sponsor receives and distributes the grant award and is legally responsible for the completion of the project and for the proper management of the grant funds.

The applicant organization must have a written contract with the fiscal sponsor that specifies the responsibilities of each party. This contract must be submitted as part of the grant application package. R2AC has samples of fiscal sponsor contracts that we will provide to you upon request. The fiscal sponsor must sign the grant application form and, if a grant is received, sign the grant contract.
