1. Start early. Allow at least three weeks to gather the materials you need to complete your application. You may have to prepare work samples, obtain additional information, or contact other people.
2. Read the application form and instructions thoroughly before you begin writing. If you have questions about the appropriateness of your application or how to apply, contact the Region 2 Arts Council well before the deadline.
3. Attend a free Region 2 Arts Council grant-writing workshop.
4. Connect your budget and project plan. Items listed in your budget must be mentioned in the project plan.
5. Write your application assuming the reader does not know your work. Provide enough information so we can evaluate your application. Have someone read your grant for clarity before you submit it.
6. Keep a copy of your completed application and all attachments for your files.
7. Make sure you meet the deadline. There are no extensions for application deadlines.
8. Take time to do your application well, and double check everything. Call or email the Region 2 Arts Council staff with questions.
