Grant Deadlines Next Week: October 5 & 6!

Attention Individual Artists! You’ve got less than a week to finish your applications for Region 2 Arts Council’s Anishinaabe Arts Initiative and Individual Artist Grants.

Applications are available at the Region 2 Arts Council Office, 426 Bemidji Avenue, Bemidji, MN  56601 and may be downloaded from our web site.

Individual Artist Grant
Deadline: October 5, 2011

Open to artists in all art disciplines.  These grants offer funding for costs associated with the exhibition, performance, or production of a creative work; purchase of materials or equipment necessary for a creative work; educational opportunities; mentorships; and proposals for career-enhancing projects or opportunities. Open to Individual Artists residing in Region 2: Beltrami, Hubbard, Mahnomen, Lake of the Woods, and Clearwater Counties. Artists can apply for grants up to $1,000.

Anishinaabe Arts Initiative Grant
Deadline: October 6, 2011

Open to individual American Indian artists in all disciplines. These grants offer funding for costs associated with the exhibition, performance, or production of a creative work; purchase of materials or equipment necessary for a creative work; educational opportunities; mentorships; and proposals for career-enhancing projects or opportunities.  Open to Individual Artists residing in Region 2′s five counties: Beltrami, Hubbard, Mahnomen, Lake of the Woods, and Clearwater county, as well as nearby Roseau, Itasca, Cass, and Becker Counties. Artists can apply for grants up to $1,000.

IMPORTANT: Hand delivered applications must be in our office no later than 5 p.m. on the deadline date.  Applications postmarked by the deadline date and mailed to our office are also accepted.

The term “arts” refers to music, creative writing, dance, visual art, theater, and other forms of creative expression. McKnight Fellowship and Arts Project Grant Deadlines September 14

Arts Project Grant
Deadline: September 14, 2011

Open to any non-profit organization, school (including community education offices), and units of government.  These grants offer funding for a variety of art projects including costs related to performances or exhibitions, engagement of guest artists, and artists-in-residence. Organizations can apply for grants up to $1,500.

R2AC/McKnight Career Development Fellowship
Deadline: September 14, 2011

Open to established artists in all disciplines who show a commitment to their career. This 18-month fellowship provides the opportunity for career development experiences that will add depth and advancement to any artistic career. Two $6,000 fellowships will be awarded per year.

Projects funded through R2AC’s grants programs should have primary impact on and accessibility to residents of Beltrami, Clearwater, Hubbard, Lake of the Woods, and Mahnomen Counties. The term “arts” refers to music, creative writing, dance, visual art, theater, and other forms of creative expression. Free Grant Writing Workshops for Native American Artists

Over the next three weeks, the Region 2 Arts Council is offering free grant writing workshops to discuss grant writing tips and procedures with individual artists interested in applying for an Anishinaabe Arts Initiative Grant.

The Anishinaabe Arts Initiative Grant is open to individual Native American artists residing in Region 2’s Beltrami, Clearwater, Hubbard, Lake of the Woods and Mahnomen Counties, as well as artists living in nearby Roseau, Itasca, Cass and Becker Counties. Native Artists in all disciplines are encouraged to apply.

Artists can apply for grants up to $1,000. Grant Deadline is October 6, 2011.

Minnesota State Arts Board Grant Program Information Session

Anyone who would like to learn about the recently announced upcoming Minnesota State Arts Board grant opportunities and deadlines is invited to attend a free session at the Bemidji Public Library on Wednesday, August 17th:

What:  MSAB  Grant Program  Information Session
Where:  Bemidji Public Library, 509 America Avenue NW
When:  Wednesday August 17,  5:30-7:30pm

In the first 60 minutes of the Grant Information Session, all grant programs will be reviewed. In the second 60 minutes, the Artists Initiative grant will be discussed in detail. Individuals do not need to stay for both hours.

The Minnesota State Arts Board is a state agency dedicated to ensuring that all Minnesotans have the opportunity to participate in the arts.  Funds for Minnesota State Arts Board programs are provided through an appropriation from the Minnesota State Legislature, with additional funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Open to artists in all art disciplines, any non-profit organization, school (including community education offices), and units of government. These grants support three key areas: Arts Activities and Arts Access, Arts Education, and Cultural Heritage. Individual artists can apply for grants up to $3,000 and organizations can apply for grants up to $6,000.
